Community Minded

“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much”

– Helen Keller

At the heart of the community, Johanne can be found giving her all, at all times. She has been the driving force behind some great community events here in the West Island; volunteer at the annual Neighbours 4 Neighbours Food Drive, auctioneer at the annual dinner gala for WIAIH, as well as supporting director during the annual McDonald’ McHappy Day, and in 2018 joined forces with the West Island Blog to create the annual fundraiser dinner for Big Brothers and Big Sisters & Ricochet, an emergency homeless shelter for youth in the West Island, which opened in 2021.

During the spring 2017 flooding, she took part in the Food Drive Depot at Fairview, which raised more than 6,000 cases of food a day for six days which benefitted the West Island Mission.

In 2019, she rallied with her family and friends to give a hand at the flood lines once again, assisting in the mobilization and organization of the volunteer efforts.
